I attended the 49ers vs Jaguars game a Wembley when Kapernick was still QB.

Was stunned by the 90,000 fans with nearly Every one of them wearing a different NFL team jersey....JAG’S, Niners , Browns, Redskins, Broncos, Panthers, Chiefs et al.

Huge popularity for American Football in the U.K.

NFL banners on Regent Street. Big rally at Trafalgar Square.

Eye opener.

it’s funny no matter where I go in the world we inevitably run into our arch rivals. of course when we do it’s a lot of fun.

wow
deja vu moment. we were in london september 2014 when the raiders and dolphins played. it was crazy, crowded, silver/black and aqua/orange colors, NFL everywhere, body to body down regent street, pubs packed, maniac football fans from the black hole, europe and united states, packed trains and tubes, a site to behold. loved it
GO RAIDERS!!!

And yet, there’s not a mention of the game on BBC Sport’s web page.

It’s almost like a Grateful Dead or Phish concert, a small devoted following and people that travel for it, but not much mainstream attention.

Seahawks are ahead 20-0 as of 11:45 am here in Seattle. Third quarter. Keep it up!

"American Cultural Imperialism!"

We were watching TV (in the UK) last year and were stunned to see an entire program on U.S. football – they had two retired players giving commentary on every team. Looked like a weekly program.

The NFL program is on semi-regularly but they do tend to move it around the TV listings. I'm not sure it gets that many viewers.

Ah, that makes sense! Thanks.

Great game outcome for us Hawks fans, sorry about that East Bay friends!

A couple of Octobers ago I was having lunch in a London cafe when a family sat down nearby, both boys decked out in Seahawks gear. On my way out, assuming they were neighbors, I approached them with some pleasantry about Seattle and they gave me blank stares. Then the dad, in halting English, said "Ve are from Germany." Who knew?

Also I remember John Cleese onstage wondering why we call the game football. Paraphrasing: "One man pushes the ball back between his legs, with his hands, another takes it and throws it, *with his hands, to another who catches it, with his hands, and carries it, in his hands, across the goal line. Only then does another man kick it with his feet."

On my way through Green Park last year on the day the Saints and the Dolphins were playing, I was a little way behind a couple and a young boy wearing Seahawks "12" jerseys. I was going to say "Go, Hawks!" to them, but as I passed, I realized they were chattering away in German!
