Sale at The Resident Hotels in London (Soho, Covent Garden, Victoria and Kensington) until Aug. 13

I've been looking for a hotel for me and my 2 grandkids, and figured I'd just book again at the Premier Inn County Hall. But I was a little worried about size, as there will be 3 of us and we will be there for 9 nights. I know they have family rooms, but they don't really look that big. Plus my grandson really wanted to be near Buckingham Palace. :-)

So I was checking around and remembered some people here talking about The Resident hotels and how nice they were. There are four of them in London, so I went to the site and found a perfect deluxe room for 3-4 people at the Victoria location, which includes one king, one twin and a mini-kitchen complete with fridge, microwave, sink with BRITA filter tap, kettle, crockery, cutlery, glassware, Nespresso coffee machine, coffee capsules and Taylors of Harrogate teas. Lots of space, too.

Originally the lowest prices was around £2250 for 9 nights, but if you are a member, you get 15% off. Plus they have an August sale going on right now (until midnight on August 13), which reduced the price even more for members (and a lesser amount for non-members). So I joined up (it's free) and by the time they took the sale price off and the member discount, it was down to around £1870. Needless to say, I was thrilled and the location is great; right off Birdcage Walk near Buckingham Palace.

So if you are looking for something for the future, you might check here. My stay isn't until late March and early April of next year, so there is evidently no need to arrive by a certain date. You just have to book by the deadline. https://www.residenthotels.com/offers/limited-time-sale/

UPDATE: See Frank's post below about the non-refundable rates. Although I do believe that if you are a member, you can still get a discount for flexible rates.

Thank you. I stayed at the one in Kensington on my last visit to London and really think it’s a great find.

The price is very reasonable for the quality of the hotel. I’ll plan to stay again.

Just be aware that most of their sales are for non-refundable rates.

I'm a regular at Kensington. In fact, the last time I was there in June, I was told that since the reservation system change in October of 2016, I've stayed there 43 times. Forty four is next month.

I did stay prior to the change as well.

One other thing they do is offer a free glass of wine or Prosecco every evening between 6 and 7. Soft drinks for the kids. (Check on the times at the Victoria location.)

Thanks, Frank, and wow! That's quite a tribute to the place. I think a post of yours was one that I read that sent me in that direction. I was aware of the non-refundable payment and I'm fine with it. I get travel insurance so if anything happens, I should be covered. But very good to know about the drinks! That sounds great! I'm very excited about it—it looks really nice.

They have ”sales” pretty regularly and once you are a member you get regular notices of their sales. I’ve probably stayed at their Kensington (Earls Court) location at least a dozen times (and through two rebrandings). I just booked rooms in Liverpool and London for my fall trip. I really like their amenities and service, but be aware that their ”small” rooms are really small. I usually book a small double (fine for one person) but on my last trip I booked a single to save a few dollars; it was really small and I was tripping over my suitcase. I went back to the small double.

Great find mardee! I just took a look and immediately knew when I saw pictures of the little kitchenette with the really nice in room coffee set up it was right up your alley! :)

They're about to open a hotel in Edinburgh.

In 2025 or 26 a hotel in the Farringdon area of London.

Kim, yes, I'm very excited and so are the kids! My grandson is very happy that we will be near Buckingham Palace and the parks. He really wants to rent a boat on the Serpentine. :-)

Laura, good to know about the rooms for future trips! It sounds like a really nice place. I usually go with Premier Inns, but was really cringing at the thought of being there for 9 nights with 3 people, so this will be much better, I think. And of course, now that I've started splurging a bit on rooms, I may never go back. :-)

Mustlovedogs, I know, ha ha! Seriously, the mini-kitchen will be perfect. I did not want a whole apartment because I do not want to cook on vacation. But with the fridge, microwave and kitchen accoutrements, we could definitely get some takeaway stuff and eat in.

Frank, that's interesting about Farringdon. I think that would be a very cool place to stay. I do love Smithfield Market and the history there.

The Resident has become my favorite hotel in London. I have stayed at the Kensington location twice and at the Victoria location last year for 12 days. I will be staying there again in less than two weeks. The first time I stayed at the Resident Kensington (then called The Nadler), I was able to book a double room (for single use) for less than £700 for a full week because of a sale.

This sounds excellent! I love where I've stayed for about 10 years but they might have priced me out of staying there in the future. I will have to look at this one to compare prices. I like the idea of a kitchenette. Sometimes I just want something light for dinner if I've had a big lunch....or afternoon tea, hahaha!!

Good to know about the small singles vs the bigger doubles. I've done that at some of my regular hotels as well. Just need a bit more space if I'm staying for a week or so.

Members get a 15% discount on all published rates.

The hotel is also now in the RS England Guidebook.

Mary, that sounds like a great deal!

Pam, I know! I love the mini-kitchen idea. I don't want to cook but as I said, very handy for takeaway!

Frank, good to know about the member rate. I'm not sure how I feel about it being in the England guidebook, however. I guess it's good, but I would hate to think that it would get overcrowded and overpriced.

Mardee....I was also surprised when told it was in the RS guidebook (It's been in a couple of editions.)

It surprised me because 1) it doesn't have an included breakfast; 2) It's outside the Circle Line. Rick used to only suggest hotels within the Circle Line.)

While there is no included breakfast, you can order it from the hotel and it will be delivered from a local cafe. Honestly, it's not a great deal. With the kitchenette you can buy something for your own breakfast or go out for plenty of places within a block or two.

On Earls Court Road you have Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Pret a Manger, Paul, Greggs, Cafe Nero, Mcdonalds, Burger King and the over Over Under Cafe (where the hotel gets its breakfast orders.) The Blackbird Pub offers a full English breakfast. They will also give you a discount if you show your Resident Hotel room key. (Check to make sure it is still valid when you get there.) There is also a M & S Simply Food and small Co-Op.

Those are great choices, Frank. I don't mind breakfast not being included, and the kids will like going out (or being able to choose food to take back for next morning's breakfast). :-) The Blackbird Pub looks nice, and I saw that it's a Fuller pub. I've been to a few of those and their food was good. I might keep that in mind for a Sunday Roast dinner as well. Thank you!

Mardee, the Victoria location is very close to Marks & Spencer (including supermarket), Waitrose, Pret A Manger, Gail's Bakery, Pizza Pilgrims, Franco Manca Pizza, Nando's, Wagamama, Five Guys, Shake Shack, a poke bowl place, Boots, Costa Coffee, and more.

Thanks, Mary! I like Gail's Bakery as they have great stuff for takeaway. Of course, so does Pret and M&S. My granddaughter will like the idea of shopping at Marks & Spencers, too. :-) Sounds like there are lots of good options there!

Mardee...ignore my post about Earls Court Road. I forgot you were staying at the Victoria location. I gave information about the Kensington location.

Ha ha, no worries, Frank! I have to admit that I did wonder at the distance, but figured you just liked to walk a lot. :-)

I have stayed at the Resident Victoria 3 times and enjoyed each stay. So close to the Victoria station/tube and easy walking distance to Buckingham Palace, etc.
