Sadly more train strike news

Breaking news but it can be presumed to look similar to the previous 14 company strikes

RMT members have said they will stage a fresh strike on 2 June in a long-running dispute over pay, jobs and working conditions.
The industrial action will affect 14 train companies and bring further travel disruption to rail users across much of the country.
The strike will see 20,000 train managers, caterers and station staff all walk off the job.

I would envisage that the schedules will be confirmed on 29th May

I previously thought June 2nd was a planned day of strike? It appears the tube is not included in this. Is that an accurate statement? I will be in London and need to get to Heathrow from London on this day. Thanks.

no, not the 2nd previously.

There are ASLEF (train driver) strikes against 15 companies on Wednesday 31st of May and Saturday 3rd of June.

Now this RMT (Guards, stations and caterers, and some drivers) strike against 14 companies on Friday 2nd of June.

That week will be difficult.

I have written previously that I needed to get from Manchester to Dundee on June 1. I tried to book the train but the TPE app wouldn't accept the reservation since they will no longer operate their trains at that time.

So, I decided to fly from Manchester to Aberdeen and then take the train or bus to Dundee. Scotrail should not be affected by the train strikes. If something happens and it is, there is always the bus. Bus and train times are nearly the same. And the bus station is walking distance to my accommodations. The train station isn't

With three fast buses an hour, starting from £4 it's hard to argue against the bus on the Aberdeen to Dundee corridor.

I can book TPE trains tonight on Northern Rail for 1 June and also on the TPE website, so the TPE website is working if the App isn't.

I'm doing that run in the other direction on the (very) slow X7 bus a few weeks later. Officially I am going Edinburgh to Aberdeen to Glasgow to Aberdeen in 16 hours due to exorbitant hotel prices in Aberdeen for the piping festival and also being diverted from Glasgow to Edinburgh due to train problems, which wrecked my plans for the Clyde and Kintyre.
I was looking earlier this evening and hotel prices in Aberdeen have dramatically softened for the Saturday night- presumably they've realised people weren't prepared to pay rip off prices, so I am now wondering what to do, whether to chuck away pre-booked tickets.
I haven't often seen hotel prices soften as a big event gets close.
