Royal Oak or National Trust

Am I missing something important in the difference? I was looking at a National
Trust 14 day Explorer pass for 103 £ ($140) for two people. And then saw the Royal Oak one year pass for US$125. for two.
We’re in the United Kingdom for 39 days and I don’t think we will be using it outside of the 14 day window but you never know. Is there any reason why I would not buy the Royal Oak?

Royal Oak is best for Americans as it costs a bit less and is actually tax deductible to boot. Privileges are are same except you will get some different mailings.

We purchase the annual seniors pass as we usually go to the UK twice a year. We always visit more places than we anticipate . One of our favorite things to do. It more than pays for itself.

There’s no reason you should not purchase the Royal Oak membership. I did it when I was in the UK for a while, and it worked well. It’s cheaper than buying a national trust pass and the UK still benefits from it. Plus you get a parking pass for all the properties that have car parks (except the private ones).

My wife and I prefer the English Heritage sites to the National Trust properties, so that’s the one we got. It really depends on what you want to visit.
