Royal Collection Trust's list of their seasonal events + Xmas Cake recipe

I'm on the email list for the Royal Collection Trust which includes managing visitors to Buckingham Palace, the Queens Gallery, the Royal Mews, Windsor Castle and Frogmore House. Got this email today with some fun things to see if you happen to be in London or Edinburgh from the end of Nov to Christmas.

Plus if you haven't started your Christmas Cake, now is the time.

Oh, that makes me want to jump on a plane so I can see all those beautiful events and decorations! And yes to Christmas fruitcake! Now all I have to do is translate the ingredients, lol!

Pam, Thanks for this!
Interesting information about the Holbein Exhibition.
Great links to Christmas in Windsor and in Edinburgh.
Lovely photo on the Windsor link!
Thanks for the recipe for the fruitcake!

@Mardee - LOL, it does, doesn't it! I'm not a fan of fruitcake which was always a tradition in the South. The glace fruit is not my fav!

@ Rebecca - Oh yes... the Windsor decorations are gorgeous! I'd love to see the Long Walk in snow!

@Estimated Prophet - As IF any of us needed any actual incentive to travel, haha.

@ S J - Well darn it! Maybe something will pop up while you are there. Were you going to Holyrood Palace? I'll bet the decorations will be lovely.

Pam:
No, wasn’t planning on going into the Palace.
Having lived in Edinburgh for many years, I’ve been in many times.
I would have liked to attend the Carol concert listed though!
My train only gets in slightly before it starts, so can’t risk it.
I have booked Afternoon Tea on an old repurposed red double decker RouteMaster bus for my friend, my cousin and myself for the next day though!
Nothing like hurtling round the old streets while eating scones and drinking tea! 😉
Edinburgh is all beautifully lit up around Christmas time, so there is that.

@SandyO ....Oh wow! Let us know what you wind up doing! I'm ALWAYS planning for a Christmas time trip and have never gotten to it! Have you looked at Christmas at Kew? You'll need to get tickets now unless they are all sold for your time frame!

S J .... I am laughing at you hurtling thru the streets of Edinburgh in a double decker. Sounds a little like the night bus from Harry Potter! Maybe that's where JK got the idea, lol. What fun! I'm putting that on my to-do list for next time I'm in Edinburgh!

I am excited about some of these the first week of December! Will be seeing Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace all decorated! Plus Kew at Christmas - that you told me about a year or two ago!

Add in going to A Christmas Carol panto - and I may come home to start making the Christmas cake. 🤣🤣

@Pam: I have been to London at Christmas time before and am going with my friend who has never been in London. We are there for a week, starting our trip in Bath on Friday and then going to London on Sunday (I booked the Buckingham Palace tour). I have the Kew tickets. I have been before and it is stunning. We are also going to see the Gingerbread City at the Museum of Architecture. 50 of London’s leading architects and designers create a magical city of cookies and sugar. We will also see the Christmas lights, i am considering taking the bus tour to view this time. Also will be going to Winter Wonderland. I am still working on the plans, but it is taking shape.

Pam: here’s the link to tea on the bus!

It does sound like the Night Bus….”hang on, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!” 🤣

I think there is a similar service in London.
