Room for 3 in London

Looking for London hotels (or similar) recommendations for 3 adults, either a king with a single bed or rollaway, or 3 twins in a comfortable space, for 10 days in early January. We avoid sofa beds. We generally avoid AIRBNB and the like. The last time we were in a triple room, there was no place for bags and barely enough room for us to walk. Thanks.

About 20 years ago, I stayed at the Hotel Cavendish on Gower Street in Bloomsbury in a triple room. There was decent amount of room, the hotel was clean and comfortable and it included a very nice breakfast. I can't vouch for it today but I loved the area - it was close to many major attractions, was on a beautiful tree-lined street with lots of fun shops and cafes nearby.

And just up the street is the Gower House Hotel, which has triples and superior triples. I do know that it's pricier than Hotel Cavendish so you might have more room there. A friend of mine stayed there several years ago and really liked it. And again, it's in a prime area. I love Bloomsbury and would easily stay in this area again.

You might look for an “aparthotel” —- a hotel that consisted of small apartments, studios or one-bedrooms that include full kitchen, and more space than a hotel or Bed and Breakfast.. There are numerous companies that offer these: Citadines, Marlin, Native, StayCity and others. These companies have Aparthotels in various locations around London.

One I just checked is Stylotel, a brand new modern option near Paddington station. I mention this because we will be staying there in March, and I suspect they may have the most reasonable price for you. One of their studio suites that sleeps 3 adults in 2 twin beds and a “sofa bed” ( a Stylosuite v2.0 is £250 per night in January.

I know you said you avoid sofa beds (we do too) but this does not look like a standard pull-out sofa bed. It looks like a daybed you make into a bed at night—no pulling out a folded-up thing with a mattress over uncomfortable support bars.

But Paddington may not be the best area for a 10-day stay, so I suggest you check the other options for a good fit too. I like the Native brand, especially their Bankside location, but it may not have apartments that sleep 3. My favorite for location is Marlin Queen Street, right near St. Paul’s, but we have not actually stayed there, and recent reviews suggest it might need some updating. Marlin Waterloo is newer, so check there. StayCity has a great location near Covent Garden under the Wilde name, but their Superior Studio which sleeps 3 is £330 a night in January.
Some forum members like the Citadines brand a lot and they have a good location near Trafalgar Square. I did not check their options for three.

We stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton London Angel Kings Cross in 2018 (my 2 daughters and I). It was an American style room with two queen beds (they might have been doubles, not sure). Plenty of room. We enjoyed our stay.

Many years ago we (three adults) stayed in a family room at the Russell Square hotel in central London. Room was big but not fancy. Two queen size beds and a single; not a sofa bed in sight. Very convenient to tube and British museum.
