Are there historian led tours of Hadrian's Wall? I would like to spend a day touring with an historian who is knowledgeable about Roman history in Britain. I want a private tour, just for me and my husband.

Read Wikipedia online for extensive information on Hadrian's Wall. Also look up on World Heritage site. There are several B&B and other accommodations on or near the Wall. There are also Buses that drop off and pick up along the Wall so you can hike the Wall without backtracking. Most every site has brochures available. There is a small museum with artifacts, etc. They may have historian led tours available. You may be able to hire your own tour if you are staying in one of the Towns. If you are driving you can easily do all of this by yourself.

I have seen Peter Carney’s name recommended a number of times - https://www.hadrianswall-walk.com/. I have no personal experience of him.
He seems to charge £300 for a day tour by car, more if you need to be picked up from Carlisle or Newcastle.
