Rolling bag or backpack?

I'll be heading off for the Best of England tour in a week, and still trying to get my stamina back after Covid. I was initially planning to use a backpack, but I'm a little concerned about carrying it for long distances through airports or getting to hotels. Has anyone taken a rolling bag on this tour? (I'm thinking cobblestones!) Advice, please!

This is one of the most argued/discussed issues on this forum.

I would be willing to wager that the majority of the people on your tour will have wheeled bags.

Contrary to popular belief, cobblestones don't automatically destroy wheeled bags. Take whatever you want. It will be fine

I've always used a backpack, but may consider a spinner on my next trip as my back isn't what it used to be. There are an enormous number of brands and models on the market, so if you decide on a wheeled bag, you'll have to choose one quickly.

On an unrelated matter, I'm curious about the origin of your forum name.

Ken, I have a spinner, and I'm probably overthinking this whole thing! Drumminwoman is a moniker I adopted after attending a drumming workshop in Seattle years ago, when I was teaching music. :o)

There really aren’t that many cobblestones in England - we’re quite up to date these days in paving technology. ;-)

I could probably still manage with a backpack but I'm somewhat curious to try a spinner. I've got one in mind so will order it when I start to plan a trip.

I was curious about the user name, as I've been working on drums for a several years, and really enjoying it. Those were the only instrument I ever wanted to play. Being able to play an instrument has enriched my life in so many ways.

We did this tour in early June with 2-wheel 21" Eagle Creek bags. The tour was full and all had rolling bags. Neither of us remember encountering cobblestones at any point where we were moving about with our luggage. It was all on an asphalt street or a sidewalk.
