We are taking our first Rick Steves trip. Do the places that we'll stay have privat baths? How many have laundry facilities.
Best to contact Rick's WA office with these questions. I'll go out on a limb (having taken two tours) and speculate your rooms will be ensuite (with bathroom). No clue about laundry options. You will be receiving a travel package for the Tour before you go.

Claudia gives good advice; the tour divas are most helpful and can answer any questions you might have related to a particular tour. Do give them a call. I've been on several RS tours and have always had a private bath. That said, I do know there is a tour or two out there that will include shared baths. I think Pam from Troy, Idaho can speak to that as she has recently had that experience. The tour department will also have information about possible laundry facilities on your tour.
None of the hotels on this route have shared baths, and in fact none on most of our tour itineraries. When that is the case for one or two stops, it will be mentioned in the Activity Level for that tour route and also in a letter that you receive before departure.
Laundry may be easier at one stop than another and your guide will address this probably on the first night and also when approaching the best resources. In your Rick Steves' England guidebook, Laundromats are also mentioned at the start of some town chapters, including Bath, Keswick, and York. During a 14-day trip, I normally get by without doing laundry (yes, I do wear underwear for 2 days), but you may be looking for it at one of your later stops.
Good to know there are no shared baths on this tour as I am considering it. I did have a shared bath situation on the 21 day Best of Europe tour and yes, it was noted beforehand that there was a possibility. When we got the hotel list I looked each of them up on their hotel websites and saw the single rooms for the hotel in Switzerland were all shared baths so I was not surprised there.
Usually the laundry times are discussed during the initial meet up as Laura indicates. I also ran in to something with the BOE tour in that there were 2 hotels on that tour that had big signs saying sink laundry was not allowed. I didn't know that ahead of time and it would have been good to know. I have that on my mental list of questions for the first night! That was the only tour where that occurred. The other 4 I have been on there was no problem with sink laundry in any hotel.
We did the BOE tour last summer and most people in the group did laundry in Keswick (it's about halfway through the trip, and there's a light itinerary day that makes it easy to drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon). Our guide recommended this place and we were very satisfied. Have fun!
