I’m going to a conference in Lincoln, UK the end of October this year. I’m looking for a reasonably priced B&B near the cathedral. Any suggestions?
We stayed at The Old Palace Lodge, not a B&B per se, more like a guest house. It is a converted bishop’s palace with remnants of arches and stained glass in some rooms. There is a small parking lot adjacent. Easy walking distance to the cathedral and chapter house. Rooms were compact but nicely furnished. Continental breakfast included but we opted instead for a cooked breakfast at Bell’s Tea House.
I've stayed at the White Hart - not an out and out B&B but very pleasant stay and a great location
Just be aware the White Hart is closed for renovation it should have opened for the summer season, but obviously work is running behind.
The best hotel for the Cathedral is the Lincoln Hotel (formerly the Eastgate) which has magnificent views of the north elevation of the cathedral. Its a bit dated now being a 1960s build, but it is decent enough. The Cathedral Quarter is relatively compact so anything there will not be far from the cathedral or the Castle.
Also, don't forget to have a pint at the Strugglers (routinely voted one of the best real ale pubs in the country), there is the Victoria just around the corner under the castle wall's which is not to shabby either, being owned by the local brewery Batemans.
