Richmond to Hampton Court or Hampton Court to Richmond

Can anyone suggest the most efficient way to travel between Richmond and Hampton Court? We're planning on doing one location in the morning and the other in the afternoon. I thought I had also read somewhere online that there is a boat option.

Thank you.

There is a boat and it's a great option! Although it depends what time of year you're visiting as it doesn't run in the colder months. It starts up again at the end of March: https://www.thamesriverboats.co.uk/info/index.asp?page=kew-richmond-hampton-court-service-126

You can also take a local bus between them which is faster than the boat but not as nice a journey. You can also take a boat all the way from Hampton Court back to central London if that is of interest- again it's not the fastest way but certainly the most scenic: https://www.thamesriverboats.co.uk/info/index.asp?page=westminster-to-kew-richmond-hampton-court-service-130

Thank you folks for your quick response. We will be there the 2nd week of April.

I just checked and their upcoming season does not start until April 14. Unfortunately, that is the day we return to the States. Has anyone taken the bus between the two? What was your experience on ease at which to catch it and the trip time?

Thank you again.

You can also take a taxi from Richmond to Hampton Court Palace, but taking the bus give you a chance to discover one of the nicer London suburbs

which location in Richmond are you doing? It makes a difference - the Borough of Richmond is quite large and served by several buses and trains.

Thank you Nigel.

The couple we're going with want to see Richmond as we all saw it on Ted Lasso.

Take a bus from Richmond to the Hampton Court Palace stop. Exit and walk to Hampton Court.

IMHO The quiet charm of Richmond has been altered because of Ted Lasso and not in a good way.

Thanks Claudia. Yes, I agree. We have travelled to England almost yearly for far too many years I care to calculate. However, we are going with `good friends who have never been to England. Since we look for any excuse to go over, we offered to go with them and put together a 5 day itinerary. All will be new to them.
