review of four points by sheraton euston london and nearby foods

Hi. I will be using marriott points to stay at the Four Points by Sheraton, Euston, 8-11 Upper Woburn Place, London, United Kingdom, WC1H 0JW in mid-September. Previous reviews of the property were atrocious. It seems it was closed and has re-opened. Does anyone have an opinion of how it is now?

Also, any recommendation for nearby foods? I see there's a Marcs and Spencer not too far away, as well as a Pret a Manger. I am looking for a place that is on the quicker side, though not McDonalds. I looked on google and didn't find the few I clicked on appetizing. The other issue is that they don't have refrigerators, and, unless something has changed, Marcs and Spencer tends to run out of sandwiches, and Pret a Manger closes fairly early.

Thanks!

There are several supermarkets nearby, including Waitrose, Tesco Express, and Sainsbury's. Five Guys is nearby at King's Cross. Gail's Bakery is a 7-minute walk according to Google. You can also get takeout pizza at Franco Manca or Pizza Express.

The Marks and Spencers at Euston I have never ever seen run out of sandwiches, or anything like it. And I'm there at all kinds of weird hours. The same applies at all major London stations- and M and S has banks of fridges with all sorts of stuff there. That branch is quite a big branch. Google Maps really doesn't do justice to the range of hot food options there are on stalls on the Euston Station Piazza- a lot of really good stuff. The Piazza is always buzzing with customers.

The Pret at Euston is open until 10pm by the way.

Then there is the Doric Arch pub right beside Euston, and several other close by pubs.

I have heard good things about the Double Six Cafe at 66 Eversholt Street- a keenly priced traditional local cafe, it's on my list.

Less than 10 minutes walk down the road is St Pancras Station where you have more choice than you could think about, all open until really late. You are totally spoilt for choice there.

For Vegan and Vegetarian Food I have always heard that the Seed Cafe at the Quaker Centre, 173 to 177 Euston Road (open to 8pm) is supposed to be very good.

I've been for a drink at the Marquis Cornwallis pub when I did classes at the University of London years ago. That's a nice old pub. It looks like they're doing some good food these days.

I've had a pizza at Nonna Selena too; again a slightly out of date recommendation, but they still get good reviews.

Russell Square is the main hub in the area really. I'm sure there's lots of choice around there. If you continue down Southampton Row and into the west end proper, the world is your oyster. My first experience of Taco Bell was in Southampton Row only fairly recently. If you head in the other direction towards Euston, Drummond Street is somewhere renowned for the selection of truly authentic Indian restaurants.

I can't speak to that specific property, but I just stayed at an Airbnb at the lower end of Woburn Place and it's a lovely street.

I love Russell Square! There is a small, open shopping center called Brunswick that features lots of restaurants and a nice Waitrose at the north end (closest to you). I had a great meal at a restaurant called Riding House at the south end. It seemed to have a more "grown up" clientele than the other places and has a lovely outdoor seating area. But the best place I found was Fortitude Bakehouse on Colonnade, two block southwest of there. There was a line around the block but I waited patiently and was rewarded with fantastic pastry and sandwiches. The scone I got there lives vividly in my memory. Actually both scones I got will live vividly in my memory.

At the north end of the Brunswick shopping center is Skoob books, one of my favorite places in the world. I know you didn't ask about books but I can't pass up a chance to mention Skoob. And I don't want to anger the gods of the old, musty, obscure British book by failing to mention it.

Who couldn't love a place named Skoob? And a bakery with the word Fortitude in it! Great tips, thanks. I seem to remember streets with trees in that area, not sure if I have it just right.
