Hi! Heading to see Paddington at the savoy on 8/6.
Any dinner recommendations? What’s common on the West End, dinner before or after the show? Coming from NYC area so familiar with Broadway and wondering if it’s similar.
We enjoyed the Original Ivy, West End pre theatre when we were in London.
Assuming you are going to an evening show, it starts at 7 and runs 2 hrs 45 mi including interval. Given the average closing time for many restaurants, I think you would want a pre theatre dinner. You are spoiled for choice in that part of the city- Google maps can show your options. Pick your type of restaurant and there should be one in the area. We will be seeing 2 shows while we are in London and will likely try Cora Pearl one night, and maybe the Covent Garden Flatiron or Nandos on the other.
Hi:
I have no restaurant recommendations, but we saw Paddington in April.
We loved it! It will be playing on Broadway next year & we're planning to go, but take our 8 yr old granddaughter with us this time.
It's such a fun show! Have a great time!
You'll find pre and post theater dinners everywhere.. We enjoyed the Ivy Market Grill just a few minutes away. If you're looking for splurge, Restaurant 1890 by Gordon Ramsay is just practically nextdoor.
A great pre theatre dinner is Dishoom Covent Garden since they only take dinner reservations up to 6pm. It's about a 10 minute walk.
Paddington was wonderful!! I enjoyed a pre-theatre meal at Cafe Murano, 5 minutes' walk from the Savoy (I booked ahead).
I went to Simpson’s in the Strand on Saturday at 5 after a matinee performance of 1536 at The Ambassadors. It was very good if you like Old School.
Savoy Grill?
