We've walked through London's chinatown before, but never eaten there. Could anyone suggest a good place to have lunch? Nothing exotic, just something recognizable that won't require any actual knowledge of Chinese food :)
Please clarify what you mean about Chinese food. A more tourist base menu?
Or to concentrate on ChinaTown, the similar Time Out link to emma's https://www.timeout.com/london/restaurants/where-to-eat-in-chinatown?pagenumber=2&zoneid=1264660
Wong Kai is either gone now or should be - you cannot any longer, I believe, go to be abused by the waiters.
My old fav, and the only one remaining serving Dim Sum off trolleys, has received an absolute ton of bad reviews in the last couple of years from various media - too bad for New World, opposite the fire brigade. I haven't been back to check recently.
A lot of the new upstarts are much less traditional and much more expensive. Tasty though....
Maybe try Royal China, but not in China Town.
My favourite is Y Ming, which is just on the other side of Shaftesbury Avenue from Chinatown proper, behind the Palace Theatre. Might be a bit too challenging for you food-wise, though.
