We are staying in Moreton on Marsh in September and would like to bike to Blenheim Palace. Is it possible to rent E bikes in Morton on Marsh or should we take the train out to Oxford, rent bikes, there and bike to the palace? Thank you for any insight you can offer!
Google shows two places in Morton in Marsh that do...
You're a better man than I am Gunga Din. Google maps estimates a little over 2 hours each way from MiM. And we know Google Maps underestimates actual travel time. Supposedly a bit over half an hour from Oxford.
that would be a fair old jaunt. Much closer in Oxford.
Would you use lanes or roads?
by the way - Moreton in Marsh
That really depends on your cycling experience. I just plotted the route and it's 37km each way or about 23 miles. I have just done today a ride of 66km from Lancaster to my home but I ride regularly. It would take me maybe 90 minutes each way looking at the route. Plenty of regular cyclists would do it quicker.
It's definitely doable for someone who does ride often but not for the casual cyclist. You will also have to factor in your energy levels to do the two rides and have energy for looking round Blenheim Palace as well. And obviously the weather on the day could significantly affect things.
I always find Google maps useless for estimating times for cycling - there are too many variables in riders.
Thank you to all who replied; the information is helpful!
make sure you know the rules, only rent from clearly professional outlets.

There's also a quick bus ride from Oxford to Blenheim.
Thank you!
