Rental Car Location

Hi,

Staying in London for a week next month and then renting a car to spend a few days in the Cotswolds. However, I just found out that the day we planned to rent the car is a bank holiday and the rental car agency is closed. We had intended to pick it up in Stratford-upon-Avon and return it there. Can anyone suggest another alternative rental car solution for us? We do want to rely on buses/trains while in the Cotswolds.

Note--We are flying out of LHR and are staying in Stow-on-the-Wold while in the Cotswolds. Our dates are not able to be changed.

Seems Heathrow would be a logical choice. From it to Stow-on-the-Wold is about a 2.5 hours drive.

The rental counters at Heathrow will be open (did not check, but airports have the most convenient, longest hours) and Heathrow is in the general direction of the Cotswolds and has good public transport to get there and away.

If it were me, that is probably what I would do. Spend your week in London, take the tube to the airport, pick up the car, and on your way. If you are flying out right after the Cotswolds, then that also solves your problem of how to get back to Heathrow, or you can return the car there and head someplace for your final few days.
