Anyone have a preference for rental car companies at Heathrow airport. Want an automatic. All fees upfront.
No, they are pretty much the same. I use Hertz only because I have Gold Club membership.
You should review and consider booking thru AutoEurope.
We've had good experience in the past 2 years with Avis and Enterprise.
If you are , as we are , somewhat " long in the tooth " and have an AARP card , look at AVIS through the AARP site for discounts
Steer clear of Green Motion and Easirent.
I did a lot of research including using Kayak to find the lowest prices. Then went to Rentalcars.com and picked Europcar.
We've used several of the rental car companies but have settled on Hertz. We've had good luck with them.
I just used Easirent. I will review the experience when I return.
All fees are not upfront, as I had a DETAILED conversation with them.
Car was £267.00 (7 Seater Ford Galaxy) for Monday to Sunday. Unlimited Mileage (Cars Only)
That included Zero Excess Liability, and no deposit hold on your credit card.
They do want another £10.00 a day to cover the windscreen and tires that is not included upfront.
There is a fuel surcharge as well of £95.00 that they refund to you if you return it with a full tank.
I had to really pry all this info out of them, because I said the same thing...I want NO surprises when I arrive.
There are good and bad reviews on this company. I'm sure they suck, but the price was affordable with all the options so I'll try it.
They have a shuttle from Heathrow to the counter as well.
Hope that helps...
We have rented cars in Europe annually for over 20 years. We always rent from Hertz. They have sound, clean, reliable cars and usually make the rental experience easy. Plus they don't get all agitated if you bring the car back with a tiny ding or scratch here or there. Never had a bad experience with Hertz.
I always use Avis had have never had a problem. Reserve it beforehand and specify an automatic. Avis normally gives a discount if you prepay, No idea who you're going to use for insurance but many credit cards will cover the CDW. I also get insurance through Allianz for CDW for a nominal amount, but make sure you are covered for liability since most companies only cover CDW. I know that in Spain, liability is mandatory and comes with the rental, but not sure about England.
I have rented every year since 1995, I suggest Costco.com or AutoEurope.
