It is not necessary to register to enter the UK is it? I am from the US - Am FINALLY leaving for Scotland and England
in September (after years of waiting) YEA!

No, it is not necessary to register to enter the UK.
All you need is your passport.

If you mean the United Kingdom ETA, then not yet.
It is starting softly and gently from this November- but Phases 1 and 2 (November 2023 and February 2024) only apply to the Gulf States.
Even for those countries the system is not live, so may yet be delayed.

People with nationality of the Gulf states listed are already required to get an electronic visa waiver so for them it will be no more hassle and actually a reduction in cost. In effect they are a pilot for the new system.

Thank you for the information. Can't wait to explore Scotland - will have 11 days there and then travel to London for the last 5 days.
