Hello,
We are going to see the play the Mouse Trap at St. Martin’s theatre in London near Covent Gardens in early October. The play starts at 7:00PM, however we would like to have supper beforehand. Also celebrating my husband’s 50th birthday, so looking for nice restaurants near the theatre before seeing the play. Any recommendations please.

Well known, venerable and pricey but for a special evening out why not? Does have a pre theatre package I believe. You'd have to research.
Or for a fabulous Indian meal go to wonderful Dishoom.
You can also look at TimeOut London online for recommendations as there are countless restaurants in Covent Garden.
Will all depend on what you are willing to spend.

Browns Restaurant on St. Martins Lane
For pre-theatre dinners we go to Côte Brasserie in Covent Garden and have always had an enjoyable meal from their early dining menu: 2 courses for £12.95.

If I am feeling reckless or especially hungry I will splurge for 3 courses and get dessert.
I have heard great things about Dishoom and their menu looks enticing, but they only take reservations for parties of 6 or more. I wouldn't want to have to wait for a table with a 7:00 Pm play pending.
If you like Indian food then I highly recommend Punjab just north of the theater. We've been eating there for many years! It's part of our last-night-in-London ritual. Fantastic food. Make a reservation...unfortunately it's been discovered.
