Recommendations for lodging in Oxford on a budget (solo traveller)

I'm changing my itinerary and need some help. I'll be in Scotland September 27-October 9 (depart Inverness on October 10). I scheduled a flight out of Dublin on October 19, but am getting disenchanted about Dublin because of high prices for lodging and room availability in Dun Laoghaire. I am intrigued about staying in Oxford and then making my way to the airport several days before the departure (or on the departure date).

Any suggestions?

There are three hostels that I am aware of in Oxford - do you really mean that budget?

Hotels in Oxford are expensive; the cheaper chain type are way out of the centre in business parks and the suchlike.

I'm geographically challenged reading this. So you will be in Scotland then departing Iverness on the 10th to? Dublin?

Plans were to spend last bit of your trek there but now you are rethinking it because Dublin isn't as inexpensive as you thought it would be?

So you want to blow off Dublin for Oxford and then find away across the sea to Dublin for your flight home.

Makes no sense geographically to me.

Did you look into staying in Belfast after Scotland and then taking either the 2 hour bus or train ride from Belfast to Dublin?

I guess I was a bit flustered when I wrote the last note. Looks like I will be able to get reasonable accommodations in Dun Laoghaire just outside of Dublin. Rick's book came through for me again.

Thanks for helping me untangle my thoughts.

We have stayed at the Lakeside Guest House in Oxford the last couple of times we've been there. Very reasonable prices, clean, and a good breakfast. It's on the main road running into Oxford from the south. About a 10 minute walk to the city center or you can catch the bus right in front.
