Recommendations for lodging in Central Bath

Well…we pivoted from Switzerland to England….our RS tour starts in Bath …we arrive 2 days prior to start on 6/19. Our 1st Lodging has no availability for those 2 days…the Brooks Guest House..we’d like to be in the vicinity of this B&B since we will need to transfer.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Premier Inn, 4 James St W, Bath.
When it's time to change hotels, walk 2 blocks NW on James St., turn right (N) onto Green Park Rd., walk 2 blocks, turn left onto Monmouth Place. Continue walking west on Monmouth Place; you will pass the Scallop Shell restaurant on your right. Continue walking, as Monmouth Place changes its name to Upper Bristol Road. Look to your right; you will be pretty much in front of The Brooks Guesthouse.

We took the Rick Steves Best of England tour in 2018, and stayed a couple of extra nights before the tour started at Brooks. However, if it had not had rooms available, this Premier Inn would have been our choice. It's in the center of town, close to sights and restaurants. It is a modern hotel, without "charm", but it serves the purpose providing clean and comfy beds.

If you want more charm at a higher price, try The Abbey Hotel, right behind Bath Abbey.

The Scallop Shell is an excellent place for fish and chips. You will need dinner reservations for an evening meal, as it is very popular.

We stayed at the Francis Hotel in Queens Square. According to Bing it's 0.4 miles from your guest house. Not cheap but wonderfully quirky and excellent location.

We stayed at the Bath Abbey Hotel and walked everywhere from there. It was a great location and the hotel was a cute boutique hotel built in the 1730’s. We love staying in historic buildings!

We have stayed at Henrietta House and enjoyed our stay immensely. It is a lovely Georgian townhome hotel. Located just across the Pulteney Bridge. Very charming and the staff was gracious. We found the location very convenient. Breakfasts were delicious.

Best,

JB

I'll second the Premier Inn. I've stayed there a couple of times. And I have walked it between there and the Brooks Guest House. Easy.

The hotel is well located but very quiet.

Three Abbey Green is adjacent to Bath Abbey - perfect location and wonderful hosts. The breakfasts are a treat!

I'll second Three Abbey Green! DH and I stayed there May 2019 and had a fantastic stay with delicious breakfasts. Location is very close to the Roman Baths, but far enough that there aren't crowds or noise. It looks to be a little over half a mile from there to the Brooks Guest House, so you'll need to decide if you can port your luggage that distance.

I also highly recommend the Bizarre Bath Comedy Walk. It's an evening walk and about 90 minutes, and it had us mesmerized the whole time!

Thank you all for your recommendations…..Brooks Guest House had a cancellation for 6/17-6/19….so now we have a room and do not need to move….:):)

We are so excited!

Chris, excellent!
You are in for a real treat. The Rick Steves Best of England tour is fabulous, and the experience of a lifetime.
Every sight you will see will be a "Wow" moment.
One great place after another on this tour.
Do write a trip report here on the forum when you get home, please.
