Recommendation for transfer driver from LHR to SOU?

I'm looking for a recommendation for a transfer from LHR to our hotel in SOU that isn't over the top expensive. We aren't interested in taking the Coach bus. Thank you.

Is there a particular reason that you are staying at the airport?

@Johnew52 - we're not staying at the airport. We're arriving into LHR and going to a hotel in Southampton for 2 days prior to cruising.

Aah - it was you using the SOU code for Southampton airport that confused me.

There is the option of train as well as coach but I am guessing that you don't want to do that either? That's what I would do.

If you want a car transfer then look at the likes of Blackberry Cars, Parker Cars or Just Airports.

If your plan is to have a couple of days before your cruise to get over jet lag and do some tourism then I would stay in Winchester rather than Southampton. Winchester dates back to before Roman times, is a small cathedral city about 14 miles from Southampton, a capital of England from 927 to the 13th century and has lots to interest the visitor. Southampton doesn't really apart from being the start point for many cruises.

I don't have any specific accommodation recommendations for Winchester. Normally for anyone looking for decent but not expensive hotels we would recommend the Premier Inn chain but the one in Winchester is not very centrally located. I am sure other posters would have some good suggestions.

@Johnew52- thank you. We booked at Southampton since we're traveling with 2 other couples. We stayed in the Pewsey area last summer and loved it. After our cruise ends, we rented a house near Bath for a week before taking the QM2 back to the states. We haven't visited Cardiff or Wales area at all, so that's our plan.

We've not gone from LHR to Southampton, but have used car services to get to and from other places in the UK. Our experience has been good using services based in the destination city. Not sure why, but they seem a bit less expensive and also have a good knowledge of the best way to get from place to place.
