Recommendation for Taxi / Car service from MAN to Settle

The train is available for about £14, and has just a single change at Bolton. You will need to cross over to the next platform, but there are lifts at Bolton and staff available to help.

A taxi will be £80-100 - very few locals would opt for this, but if you choose to there are a few taxi companies in settle - neither have websites but you could try calling them.

The above train via Bolton only runs twice a day and on Saturday only. It is a weekend rambler's train to Ribblehead.

If you were taking that route you would do the same platform change at Salford Crescent, as opposed to changing at Bolton.

At other times it is train to Leeds, change for Settle. About 2 hours MAN to Leeds, and an hour Leeds to Settle.

The walk up fare is £43.20, although if you take a bit longer and only use Northern Rail trains to Leeds it is £35 on a Northern Explorer ticket.

PS- Another way to do the journey is to be aware that Settle has 2 stations (the other at the south end of town is called Giggleswick). Train MAN to Lancaster, train to Giggleswick (although that service is not super frequent)- same £43.20/£35 fare. Then taxi from Giggleswick into town, or it is about a 20 minute and quite pretty walk into town- past the rather interesting Church then over the Memorial Bridge across the river.

The two Settle based companies are fairly small, so if I was in that market I would choose the larger company.

For a 70 mile journey I would be expecting a minimum of around £150 + whatever is charged for dead mileage, so likely £200+
