Recommendation for afternoon tea in London

Looking for recommendations for afternoon tea, we are staying in the Westminster neighborhood. I've looked into the Orangery at Kensington which is £27.50 per person. Is this an average price or on the high side? Thank you!

Actually that is less than most hotels afternoon tea. If u are happy with the menu then go for it . This summer i will return to my favorites Fortnum and Mason and the Wallace collection Restaurant.

Afternoon Tea at The Orangery if great, it's beautiful and the food is great the price isn't bad for having really nice Afternoon Tea. For example if you would go to any of these Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, Claridge or Brown Hotel you would pay £44.00 - £55.00 pp. and The Ritz is £54.00.

Edit: Yes, some have been disappointed into The Orangery, but there are many more that really enjoy it. I've had Tea there many times, never been disappointed.

Last time I was in London (September 2016), I did afternoon tea at the Ritz and thought it was absolutely perfect. I've also done the tea at Selfridge's, but was not impressed.

I personally like Fortnum and Mason's if you are in it for the true afternoon tea experience.

However, to throw another idea out there, we added afternoon tea to our Houses of Parliament tour on our last visit. When we were planning our last trip, I stumbled upon the afternoon tea and decided to book it because my partner didn't really want to do a "true afternoon tea" unless he got something else out of the experience than just tea and food. Years ago, I'd been on a private tour with an MP, and I'd been out on the members' deck then. It was an amazing experience - one I neglected to bring a camera for - so I booked our afternoon tea as the room is adjacent to the members' deck so you overlook the Thames, and you're able to walk out onto a private deck and take photos. Was it the best tea and sandwiches? No, but the whole experience was pretty amazing, even having been out there before.

Thank you for the suggestions, my husband is not totally sold on the afternoon tea idea, so I thought I'd combine it with a tour, maybe not...

I'm with your husband but we always go to the Orangery since my wife likes it. You can tour Kensington Palace when you're done.

Check out Tea and Tattle, across the street from the British Museum. See the review and additional info on tripadvisor.com

If you can still book the Houses of Parliament with afternoon tea then do it. Went 2 years ago. Memorable and yes, pricey.

Have also enjoyed afternoon tea at Fortum and Mason's, The Orangery, and Beas of Bloomsbury.

There are actual YouTube Videos on Afternoon Tea in London and you might want to check them out. So many choices! I am going to London and need to decide where to go. I have been to the Ritz years ago and loved it. But I want to try a new place.
