Rail Travel etc...in England

Leave next week and still a few more clarifications I would like please. If we take the Heathrow Express from Heathrow to Paddington and then a train out to Bath do I need to reserve those ahead of time or can I just buy them before or on board? We are supposed to be arriving about 6:00 am. at Heathrow.

For the train out to Windsor we should be able to buy tickets at Paddington before hopping on board, correct?

We will definitely be getting the Oyster card. Any other tips or tricks would be awesome and thanks!

Generally you can buy walk up fares but these are incredibly high compared to the others. With rail it is best to book early, and be specific. Oyster IIRC is TfL only.

Buy them in stations, not onboard the train. The Heathrow Express has some flexible tickets sold online but buying ahead to Bath would lock you into a particular train that you might not make. For Windsor, you can buy a same-day Off-Peak Return ticket for 11 pounds.

If you mean that you plan to go from LHR to Paddington to Bath in one trip consider either taking a coach to Bath or the RailAir coach to Reading where you can board the same train from Paddington. Paddington is in the opposite direction to Bath.

Yes, I know it is in the opposite direction. I prefer trains to the bus so that is why I am looking at this option. Buses tend to give me motion sickness. Although now I'm noticing I could do the Heathrow Connect to Paddington and then the train out to Bath. Cheaper than the express and not that much slower. Hmmmm.
