Rail Question: Bath to Heathrow via Slough

Greetings
I am looking at options for travel from Bath to Heathrow (an airport hotel, not departure) and wondering if rail to Slough and from there to Heathrow is an option. I understand that the normal train connection recommendation is to go to Paddington and then take Heathrow Express, but Slough looks close enough to make it feasible. Is it within taxi distance? This is on the Monday of a bank holiday weekend so I want to consider alternatives.
Thanks

National Express runs non-stop buses (coaches, to the English) from Bath to the airport terminals. Scheduled time is just over two hours, a few minutes shorter than the rail connections. Some of the English train lines were in turmoil over the Christmas holidays due to a labour dispute. http://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx

Yes it's an option. There are trains leaving for Slough every half hour, there is one at 9:13, 9:43 and 10:13 etc., leaving from platform 2. You have to change in Reading, leaving from platform 10 to Slough. If you buy the tickets in advance they are £11.50. Slough is a 15 minute taxi ride to Heathrow. There is no sense in going into London the back out to Heathrow

Railair coach from Reading would probably be more convenient if the direct coach is no good for you timewise.

which bank holiday? That's important because the electrification of the Great Western Railway grinds slowly but perceptibly onwards and bank holidays are often the times that the track guys and girls take to get the heavy work done (only tourists and families on the trains, no commuters, y'see?) so if you have picked a day that the railway is closed or on diversion your journey could be less pleasant.

Engineering works are posted quite far out, so check with National Rail for info.

Thanks everyone for suggestions. Nigel, we are traveling Bath - Heathrow area on May 01, 2017. Staying in Bath for the bank holiday weekend April 28-30. My mistake for not checking the calendar for conflicts first.
