I had planned to purchase a Two Together Rail pass ahead of time, but it appears I can only do it while in the country (UK). I signed on to the rail site and it ask for a UK address to mail the pass but the digital option also asked for a UK phone number.....since I am in the US. Does anyone know if it possible to get a pass while still in the US??
You don’t need the pass when you buy the ticket as long as you have it when you board the train.
I’m in the U.S. and just bought a digital two for one pass last week on the LNER website. There’s a drop down menu that asks for your country. It took me a couple of times to find it but once done, it’s easy.
I bought the Two Together Railcard from the US last May. I can tell because the backgrounds of the pictures are in our house. :)
You should be clear that the TwoTogether railcard is a railcard and not a pass. You still have to buy tickets for each journey you take - the railcard gives you a 1/3rd discount on whatever fare you book.
It’s also not a two for one pass - it works as above.
We bought the digital Two Together railcard online through National Rail from our home in the US last spring. I can't remember the details, but there's a way to get the form to accept a US phone number, or to skip that part. We took our pictures, uploaded them and put the pass on both our phones. It was nice to have it done before we got to the UK. As said elsewhere, you can buy your rail tickets before you purchase the card, just note what type of railcard you will be using when you book the tickets and the appropriate discount will be applied.
Thanks for the information. I will return to the National rail site and keep looking until I find the box for country code.
