Rail Disruption Edinburgh to Newcastle until further notice

Due to a flood damaged viaduct between Morpeth and Cramlington the rail service Newcastle to Edinburgh has been thinned out, as only 1 of 4 lines is open in the affected area.

Northern- no local trains Newcastle to Morpeth- rail replacement service in place except for the two daily trains to Chathill which are still running

Transpennine- Cancelled Newcastle to Berwick. Reston station being served by Cross Country.

LNER, Lumo and Cross Country- still running, but unable to call at Morpeth southbound. Use replacement bus from Alnmouth (to Morpeth) or replacement bus to Newcastle (from Morpeth). Check with operator in case of short notice changes as the line now lacks capacity to cope with late running trains.

Thanks for these updates, I'm working my way up to Northern England (currently in Chester for a bit as I'm a Roman history buff) so it's good to be aware of delays up and around the northern part of the west to east loop I'm doing.

We just left Edinburgh Saturday. We were flying out & our friends were using LNER to London. They woke up to a notice that the LNER train was cancelled. After much deliberation they bused to Newcastle (I think) & popped on the train for the balance of the trip. It was a long day for them. But they are enjoying London now.
