As I consider whether to rent a car I have the following question. i want to visit Lands End near Falmouth. I know I can travel via train to Falmouth but how do I get to Lands End from the town?

Easiest would be just to take a taxi. For that part of England though I would recommend having a car. All the great little towns along the coast as well as inland are difficult and time consuming to reach via public transport.

You don’t say where you are coming from but the main operator off trains in the south-west and from London to this area is:> https://www.gwr.com
To reach Land’s End, you should take the GWR (advance book for lowest fares around 11 weeks out ideally) train from London Paddington to Penzance. (Train may split at Plymouth so be sure to be in the front 5 coaches). Then, if you go to the following site, it will tell you the times of the buses from Penzance to Land’s End:>https://www.traveline.info
I would also suggest that you visit St.Ives. (Many other places well worth a visit exist in Cornwall). https://www.visitcornwall.com
