I took a Rabbies tour to the highlands. It was generally good. A lot of driving, but the guide was entertaining and there were enough stops built in for comfort.

My husband and I took a Rabbies tour in October 2013 from Edinburgh to Islay - 4 days/3 nights. I've never thought of myself as a guided tour kind of traveler, but the opportunity to go to Islay without a car was too important to pass up, so we screwed up our courage and did it. And we couldn't have been happier with our choice! Our tour guide was fantastic, and the limit of 14 people meant that 1) the group was never an unwieldy size when we stopped at a distillery or other sight, and 2) the little people mover we were in could go many places a bigger bus wouldn't have fit.

I'd recommend the Islay Rabbies tour to anyone. I can't vouch for any of the other tours, but I've heard good things about them. If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to try and answer them.

You will probably get more advice on the Scotland forum, rather than the England one. I agree with some of the other UK posters, there should be one Great Britain forum.

Mom and I took a 4 day (3 night) Rabbie's tour out of London last year and loved it. The tour went to Stratford-upon-Avon, Chester (2 nights), Conwy, Chatsworth, Lincoln (1 night) and Cambridge. We were fortunate to share the tour with a lovely young couple, the guide and a guide-in-training, so it was a very small, friendly group. The guide was extremely knowledgeable, itinerary was great and the luxury of looking out the window while someone else drove was wonderful. We loved the B&B's, which were both booked by Rabbie's. The only negative was that we would like to have had longer to spend at Stratford-upon-Avon, Conwy and Chatsworth, but that was offset by the fact that we saw so much more than we would have seen on our own. We had never been on a tour before, but based on our experience, I'd highly recommend Rabbie's. In fact, we're going to take several of their day tours out of Edinburgh next year based on our confidence in the quality of guides/tours.

Rabbies gets cited frequently in the Scotland forum as a preferred tour. People like the guides and the size of the group. As MC suggests, you might post the same question in that forum.
