Hello, My husband and I are planning to visit London in February of 2019 to visit friends and enjoy the sights! Is there a spot near Victoria station that we could find a quiet hotel ? Is the Windermere hotel in a quiet location? We can spend roughly 200 per night but would pay a little more for quality and quiet! Thank you in advance and happy travels! Val
Is that £200 or $200?
Quiet is relative. We have used the Victoria Station Best Western a couple of times. And it is fine and I would judge the area around it being relatively quiet. Others might not.
Do you want a quiet room, or do you also want to be in a quiet(er) area once you leave your room?
I ask because, twice in 2018, I stayed in the Hub by Premier Inn Goodge Street. The hotel room itself was quiet (faced the back, but I don't think a front-facing room would have been noisy). I enjoyed my stays very much.
But, the area near the hotel is busy; if someone wanted to walk out the front door and not be subjected to hustle and bustle, they would not be happy there. The street the hotel is on isn't busy, but just around the corner is Tottenham Court Road, a busy street lined with stores, multiple buses, etc. But years ago, I stayed in a B&B in a residential neighborhood, on a side street. Not only was the street itself quiet, but so were the surrounding streets. A person who wanted quiet would be much happier in such a location.
For any hotel, you can "walk" the neighborhood using Street View on Google Maps, to see how commercial the surrounding area is, if that's important to you.
We stayed at the Georgian House Hotel, 10 minute walk to Victoria Station. It was a quiet room on a relatively quiet street. Pimlico area is a pretty quiet neighbourhood compared to other areas of London. Many restaurants nearby as well as small b+b's and hotels. We were happy with the hotel and area. Good breakfasts - hot and cold selections.
I would recommend Luna & Simone, it’s a short 15 minute walk from Victoria Station. It’s also on the #24 bus line.
Hello thank you for all the great suggestions
I stayed at Cherry Court Hotel behind Victoria Station. I had a room overlooking the street and had no problems with noise. The street hardly got any traffic. It’s about a 5 minute walk from the station.
Letus know how it works for u.
I usually stay on a quiet street atRussell sq. 1 block from British Museum.
Just so u are aware 200 pounds is difficult to find in one of the priciest cities for hotels.
There are some chains that might accommodate thAt rate but may not be central.
Cherry court as mentioned is nrby and low cost but stairs and basic is the nzorm there.
There are some very nice hotels for less the £200.00 in central London.
Check out the Jesmond Dene Hotel on Argyle St.
Just about 2 blocks from Victoria Station and St. Pancras station.

Thanks Frances, for that link for the Jesmond Dene Hotel. Prices look great for the location. Bookmarked for future trip planning :) Thanks,

200 Gbps !!! Hahaha I always find decent places for 120 -140 gbp max !
200 gbp would be way over our budget ( keep in mind our visits overseas are 3-5 weeks at a time )
We loved the Celtic but it’s near Russell sq not Victoria .
The Premier Inns are a decent chain .
There's really nothing wrong with Russell Square area, IMHO.
A "quiet" hotel is subjective. But a property that's located on heavily trafficked streets is going to be noisier. As is a room on a lower floor.
Check online maps for a hotel's location. You can also mail/call hotels to ask about room locations, etc.
That said, none of the London hotels I've stayed in has been especially noisy, except for that time I was in a room overlooking the outdoor bar, which was busy and loud long after midnight. Avoid those rooms.
I also recommend the Luna Simone hotel. In September, we had a room facing the street (Belgrave Rd). We could not hear any street traffic (which there was) even when the window was open at the top.
I'm with Nigel on this. Look in the Russell Square area. Nice, quiet, steps away from the British Museum.
Sanctuary House in London is closer to St James than Victoria, but it's still not that far. And we found this to be a wonderfully quiet hotel within easy walking distance of many sites.
My daughters and I stayed at the Windermere in May, and enjoyed it very much. It is a quiet area, but reasonably close to Victoria Station. There is also a launderette located conveniently close! We would definitely stay there again.
It looks like the Jesmond Dene Hotel is a great location for being near St Pancras and King's Cross, but not near Victoria Station. Probably could find a connection with all those resources, though.
