Can I purchase a 7-day, zone 1/2 paper Travelcard (the kind you get from a rail station in order to take advantage of the 2-4-1 offers) a couple of days in advance? - for example, purchase a card on a Saturday which will be valid for the upcoming Monday-Sunday?
Do you mean purchase it in advance at a rail station, with your photos in hand? That should be possible. When we bought ours, the agent asked when we wanted it to start. In our case, that was the following day.
Yes, I mean purchasing it at the station with photos in hand a few days in advance of when I would like it to become valid.
Yes, you can buy on one day to start on another date rather than date of purchase. You will still need your photos on the date of purchase. My husband & experienced a little bump when we attempted at Paddington in the Great Western Railway ticket office to buy our 7 Day Travel Card to start the following day. The gentleman advised we couldn't do that & then crestfallen I stated to my husband we would just have to come back the next day. Almost immediately the man said oh I can do that today for tomorrow. Later I looked at the extensive information I had brought with me from Trip Advisor & realized yes you can buy in advance, and no problems with it. I'm not sure why he at first said no, we were nice & polite -- maybe he was having an off day. I post this just in case someone else experiences what we did.

Is this still a worthwhile purchase if we will only be in London for 5 days? And what are the two 2-4-1 offers? Or is there a website that lists them out?
