Purchased rail tickets but train no longer showing on national rail

A month ago I (foolishly) purchased Super Off-Peak Single tickets from Bath to London Victoria Station for Sunday May 12, departing 9:06 AM; I found the route on nationalrail.co.uk, and I was transferred to the GWR site to book.

I see now that this was silly - I assumed I was getting a cheap rate since I bought early, but didn't realize I should wait until tickets marked "Advance" showed up.

Today I was curious about how much money I lost, so I searched for the same route on the National Rail site and the 9:06 AM train is no longer listed; any idea why? I see the service notice below which I didn't notice when I first booked; could this be related?
"Buses replace trains between Bristol Temple Meads and Swindon / Westbury and also between Swindon and Westbury on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May"

I wish I'd found the seat61.com site sooner - lots of good info there!

Don't beat yourself up. Consider it a learning fee. You are not alone.

Thanks, I'm not too worried about this mistake (probably not the worst one I'll make with this trip!), but should I be concerned that my train no longer appears on the National Rail site?

You bought a ticket at walk up prices before the timetable was confirmed due to engineering works.

Super off peak tickets are refundable. Apply for a refund then buy a cheap Advance ticket. Part of the journey will be by bus.

Because you bought a super off peak ticket rather than a cheaper Advance ticket, you can travel on any train. So don’t worry about the 9.06 not appearing - just take another train that suits you as your ticket will be valid.

There are schedule changes on that day because you will need to take a bus for part of the route so presumably that’s why the timings look different and also explains why the Advance tickets were slow to go on sale.

I note there’s an 8.25 and a 9.25 but the train will only go as far as Swindon then you’ll transfer to a bus at the station to take you the rest of the route to London. It’ll therefore take a lot longer than usual. I wouldn’t choose to do the journey that day but if it’s the only day you can, then I guess you’re stuck with it.

If you want, you can refund your ticket and buy an Advance ticket for one of those trains for £19, or choose to buy a ticket for another day instead.

A small additional point: trains from Bath arrive at London Paddington not Victoria so I that’s where the bus will drop you. If your ticket says Bath to London Victoria, you can use it on the tube to get from Paddington to Victoria.

Ramblin': thanks for pointing out that the tickets should be refundable (looks like a possible £10 admin fee but maybe that's unlikely).

This Person Who Writes Stuff: We're stuck travelling that day unfortunately. It does seem like getting a refund and re-purchasing is worthwhile. Any sense of pros/cons regarding a rail ticket to Paddington (then tube) vs rail ticket to Victoria (which will include bus from Paddington to Victoria)?

When the National Rail site indicates part of the journey will be by bus due to service, will the arrival time on the site still be relatively accurate? Looks like the durations are around 40 min longer than my original booking indicated.

Ramblin', thanks very much - I skipped the coach idea originally as it was slower, but with the rail work that day, looks just as fast and probably simpler (definitely cheaper).
