Punting the Cam on a Tour

We are planning a full day trip from London, to Cambridge....recognizing Cambridge would require many days to explore, we are arriving by train, hoping to walk to and from Grantchester, for the walk, the history of the Orchard Tearoom, a pub lunch, then back to Cambridge for 5:30 Evensong, catching the train back to London after that. I have been researching taking a "chauferred punt tour" going to Grantchester, but am having challenges finding if it is possible to join other people (there are only 2 of us) on the boat, and where to board the boat. Companies do return email responses, but they talk of renting the boat at over 200 pounds! Anyone on the Forum ever join a punt tour down the Cam to Grantchester? And, if we are at the train station in Cambridge, can we join the walking trail to Grantchester from there? Thanks for your expert feedback.

Make sure that the Orchard is open when you want to go.

It is a bit of a hike to Granchester and will be slower by punt. Probably why the little boat is that price.

I don't know of a particular trail - but I am in my car and looking at roads. I'm sure you can get anywhere from the station - but it all the way across town from the Backs.

Evensong at which college?
