We are looking for an early evening pub crawl tour (vs. afternoon). We'd like to join a group since it would be more fun than doing it on our own. All I see are tours that begin at 2 pm which is too early for us. Any suggestions? We will be there May 30 - June 3.
London Walks, the biggie, offers plenty of pub walks, so many that I didn't check if all start in the evening but many do. http://www.walks.com/
They face competition, too, suggesting you need to widen your websearch.
On my last visit to London, I finally took 3 of thw London Walks tours and enjoyed them all. I didn't have time for the pub crawl, but I highly recommend the company. Their website includes detailed descriptions of the tours and the guides and reviews from participants.
For doing it yourself, Rick mentions a few pubs on this site. I also have great faith in the dining and drinking guides from Britain's Guardian newspaper, such as their lists of Historic Pubs and Literary Pubs in London.
Thank you everyone! I think LondonWalks will have what we need.
I had a lot of fun on a pub tour a number of years ago. The one I took was mostly in Chelsea. The one I went on was in the evening. I think that there are other walks that are later than 2 PM. See these here.
