Pub etiquette regarding fruit machines

I started playing fruit machines in pubs on my last trip. Are there any unwritten rules of etiquette that I should be aware of for my next trip this year?

I don’t play a machine that someone else had just been playing until they’ve been gone from it for 25 minutes or so. That way, if they’re just getting another pint or using the toilet, they can still reclaim their previous machine.

Anything else I should be aware of? As a tourist, I’m unlikely to find myself in some pub filled with dodgy locals looking for trouble.

I can't answer but award for best post title:)

I pictured - at first - apples and bananas for sale in the bars in a special kind of vending machine:). And then I realized it must be something gambling based - but thanks for the smile as I scrolled through titles.

Too funny!! A fruit machine is similar, but not identical to a slot machine. They’re ubiquitous in pubs in the U.K.

They’re really not ubiquitous. You only find them these days in pubs with dodgy locals looking for trouble. Good luck.

They’re not in as many pubs as they used to be. Once somebody has left a machine just jump straight on if you want. You don’t need to wait to see if they’re coming back.
