Problems purchasing rail tickets in advance

Has anyone encountered an issue with purchasing rail tickets on-line with the GWR (Great Western Railway) app or website. In both cases, with the App and the website, it fails to complete the purchase after selecting the train and seats. I would prefer to pay with a credit card, however it never asks for the card number or other payment info. I've tried using an iPad as well as a PC. Help! Thanks in advance.

One more technical thing to try: a different browser.

It could just be a website problem that will be resolved by tomorrow.

I tried to test it for you but eventually faced a screen asking for my account number, and I don't have an account with GWR.

It may be easier for others to troubleshoot this if you tell us your travel date and time, origin and destination.

Try another rail company site
They all offer the same fares ( except some very special offers)
Have a look at www.seat61.com for information on rail travel in UK

Update: it seems the App and website for GWR does not work properly for bookings outside of the UK. In order to make advance purchases a third-party site, such as www.seat61.com or RailEurope, or others, needs to be used. Problem Solved! (Although it would be nice if GWR.com would advise this on their site!)

Last week I purchased a ticket to Bath on the actual GWR site with no issue whatsoever, selected seats and everything, using a desktop and Chrome browser.

Thanks, Christa! May I ask if you used PayPal or were you able to enter your credit card details to make the purchase? I haven’t tried the PayPal approach.

It worked for me with PayPal. Not sure why but that's the way I had to do it.

I paid direct to GW using my credit card, and was prompted to set up an account after that, and then I received an email confirmation of both the account and a link to use to collect the tickets at the station. I also booked Southeastern and Southwestern tickets that day, and one of those sites was difficult until I ticked the box to enter an International address, could it be that that's stopping you?

I also used the GWR site a couple of weeks ago with no problem. I did use PayPal.
