Private transportation help

I've researched a few companies that offer transportation from Southampton cruise port to central London. EC Minibus was the least expensive, and I was wondering if anyone has used their service? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you tell us a bit more? The reason I ask is that there are so many options available. Are there physical limitations that require a private transfer?
Option 1: Cruiseline arranged transfer by coach.
Option 2: Taxi to Southampton Coach Station, National Express Coach to Victoria Station.
Option 3: Taxi to Southampton train Station. Train to Central London.

Hi Carol, my wife and I prefer a private transportation, as we both have knee issues and I don't want to hassle with the luggage.

I travel with three other seniors and we have used www.daytrip.com for transportation from Amsterdam to Bruges Belgium last year. We have booked them to take us from London to York in a few weeks. This works for us because of the convenience and the fact that they take care of the luggage. We had a positive experience with this company.

Hi Joanne, thanks for your advice and I will definitely check them out. Our cruise stops in Bruges, and I hope the city is as beautiful as it looks !

In September 2023, we used Blacklane to get us from London Kings Cross to our hotel in Portsmouth and, a few days later, from our hotel in Portsmouth to our hotel in Windsor. Not the cheapest, but super comfortable and convenient. We had good luck with My Day Trip in Italy in 2022.

JC from Portsmouth always suggests a local firm from there, but I can’t recall its name.

I know the drivers personally and have been using them for all my airport transfers. I've recommended them on this forum on a number of occasions and the feedback has been positive. The drivers are all Portsmouth residents and regularly conduct transfers from Southamption cruise terminal to London.

Blacklane has some very bad reviews on TripAdvisor, so I’ll have to re-think using them. As they say, you get what you pay for.

But blacklane have a positive review above. People seem to put too much store in trip advisor which is too often populated by those with an axe to grind, Somewhere like that people are far more often to place a negative review than a positive one, and exaggerate the negatives.
Bluntly, if looking for a hotel the last place I look for guidance is TA- I see so much bunkum on there.

I agree that websites similar to TripAdvisor too often have negative reviews that are posted by people with an axe to grind. That’s why I find travel forums more valuable when seeking recommendations. Thanks for your feedback.

I post reviews of hotels and restaurants on TripAdvisor all the time. I didn't even think about posting a review of Blacklane on TripAdvisor.

Maybe I should.

your choice between a faceless multinational who contracts with local companies who subcontracts with drivers or associates; or a small local company which knows the area and does the run frequently, and which is personally known and recommended by a frequent and respected local contributor.
