I'd also look up any potential guide to see if they are a Blue Badge Guide which indicates that they are official and have proven that they have all the knowledge to guide accurately. They have had to have 2 years' training and passed tests. https://www.guidelondon.org.uk/blue-badge-tourist-guides/

Don’t need one, but I’ve often found it can make a big difference to spend even two hours touring with someone who knows the history, etc.
