Is a private tour at sunset worth it? If you agree, we are looking for recommendations of companies/drivers who will pick us up
and do an excellent job. Thanks!
Are you asking whether it's worth the extra money to pay for a private tour that includes Stonehenge inner circle access, or whether it's worth it to go to Stonehenge at all? Also, where would you want to be picked up from?
Inner circle access is restricted to a small number of people during limited hours of the early morning and late afternoon/evening. There are also Stonehenge tours that will take you there during regular visiting hours, without inner circle access. You can see the henge perfectly well without going inside the ropes, and your entry fee includes an audio guide. The indoor/outdoor Visitor Centre is also excellent.
Yes, is a private tour so very different from the public tour?
I've been inside the circle back in the day and outside later with my husband. I'd have to say it is a greater experience to be up close. But I don't know how today's tour compare. I guess I am lucky to be so old I got there before the modern hordes. Too bad some places get too popular.
Oh my goodness! I have just spent an hour looking for a tour guide for Stonehenge!!! I will start a new thread though, so I don’t hijack yours, as my question is different. Good luck in your search! I say if you’ve got the time to plan around time of day, go for it!
