Hello all, I'm looking for suggestions for a private driver service from Maidenhead to Cambridge. Taking the train won't work well given the time of day (Sunday night) and time constraints. Is there a reasonable private driver service that people could suggest? Has anyone taken uber for this large a distance? Uber says a ride can be up to 8 hours, so this should work too.
I have no idea where Uber is getting eight hours from. Maidenhead to Cambridge should be about two, two and a half hours on a Sunday night.
I suggest researching a couple of Maidenhead taxi firms online and asking them to quote you for the journey.
Alternatively try Addison Lee, a well-known private driver/cab firm and see what they quote you.
I think the OP means that Uber drivers work up to 8 hours in a shift or maybe per journey, so a long one like that would be possible. I’d definitely prefer Addison Lee (better car, better drivers) for such a long drive, but they’ll be way more expensive.
I used minicabit.com to estimate the cost for next Sunday at 10pm from Maidenhead station to Cambridge Station - it came in at just over £200. Probably about right for a journey of about 2hrs each way??
You could use this as a benchmark for local firms in Maidenhead that you could find via Google - I'm not sure that Uber operate there.
plus the Dartford Crossing toll each way.
i'd use a local firm
Thank you! These are all very helpful suggestions. I’ll see what we get for quotes.
Nigel - I would be worried about anybody who planned to drive from Maidenhead to Cambridge via the Dartford Crossing.
I just looked on Google maps, which suggested 73 miles and 83 minutes at 12pm on a Tuesday. Clearly it could easily take 2 hours though.
you know, there shouldn't be two twons whihc I XIM up!! It isn't fare!!
Maidenhead - Maidstone - they're the same, rite?
I have been mixing them up since I were six.
