Premier League in London

Any recommendations on how to get tickets to a match in September?

I think it will be really difficult, to be honest. They will all sell to members of the supporters clubs. The only option is probably a resale site.

The other thing to be aware of is that the schedules will change so don’t pin your hopes on a particular match too far ahead of time. TV companies decide which games they want to show, and these are moved from Saturday afternoons to other times. No football is allowed to be shown on TV on Saturday afternoons in case it detracts from attendances in the lower leagues.

Realistically you should have a decent chance if you are willing to stump up the money for hospitality tickets and buy them soon. If you let us know your dates we can see what games will be happening. You just need to be prepared for the game to be moved any time across a whole weekend.
If you were prepared to consider a Championship game (the next division down) you would probably have no issue picking up regular tickets. The one issue there is there will be less choice of teams this season.

The hospitality tickets are very expensive but friends who have used them say they are a fantasic experience.

"The only option is probably a resale site."

Its illegal to sell football tickets through 3rd party sites and through resellers. They can only be bought either direct from the club and/or via their authorised ticket partner. However, most clubs have a member areas where tickets can be exchanged. To do this one will have to sign up for a club membership which often costs in itself to access this facility. This approach is good if one is looking for a single ticket at a specific match, however, if the OP is part of group its going to be very difficult to snag a number of tickets/seats together and even harder and more expensive if they do not know what match they want to see. Also there is an international break, week commencing Sept. the 9th where there will be no EPL and Championship fixtures for seven days, but there will be League 1 games and below.

As has been mentioned hospitality is a good way of getting tickets but it comes at a premium, sometimes a significant one. A good way of getting the low down on the individual hospitality packages, is sign up to the Padded Seat Facebook page.

I haven't bought tickets before, but it has been recommended to me to make a day trip of it to smaller centres such as Brighton where you may have more success. Or drop a division and look at the Championship league. I've been told by some of this Forum that it's also a lot of fun.

If there is a specific club you have your heart set on seeing, I would sign up for their membership (I'm an Arsenal supporter - it was 34 pounds for the year). You will get access to the presale of tickets for that membership level and also access to the Ticket Exchange where season ticket holders can transfer tickets.

If you just want to see a match regardless of team, look at other teams. My former boss got tickets for West Ham through the club this past spring because there were still tickets available.

When a friend and I went in 2019, he was able to get hospitality tickets via his Chase Sapphire Reserve CC. That was a great experience! So check into hospitality through your CC and the club.

If you can't get a ticket, just go to the area around the ground where they are playing and watch the game from a pub. The atmosphere is as good or better than the stadium, and its free. Get there early! And don't wear colours matching the visiting side.

As an Arsenal fan, my favourite is the Tollington Arms.

I'm going to show my ignorance - where's Sincil Bank and who plays there?

@wasleys, given you're from Lincolnshire, I'm going to guess you're winding somebody up?

This is decent advice but not all PL games are shown on TV (about 2/3rds are so a good chance). Some pubs near football grounds can be a bit rowdy and even dangerous depending on who’s playing. Local derbies can be a flashpoint.

I agree that The Tollington Arms is a fun pub near Emirates! We went post-match because the line beforehand was too long! As a note, it is for home fans only (sign on the door says that).

But definitely if you don't have tickets and go to a pub to watch the match and are near the home field, be sure to either stay neutral or cheer for the home team.

Good luck getting tickets! I have found it is a lesson in patience and flexibility.

I'm happy to oblige.
