Premier Inn on Bath Rd Heathrow:getting to/frm T2

I should have checked this earlier as I get to Heathrow today. Is Hoppa Bus available & easy to use or wld I be better off just getting a taxi? Has anyone stayed @ this PI? How was your experience?

It’s been a while, but we stayed there a couple of years back. It’s a pleasant enough hotel, probably all you’d need for an overnight stop, clean comfortable, secure. But at the end of the day it is a Premier Inn, so nothing much to set it apart from any of the others. Bar/dining area was pleasant as I recall.

We did take the Hoppa bus but it would have been less time consuming, and not that much more expensive to get a taxi with hindsight. The good thing is the scheduled Hoppa bus does call at the hotel, but in my view a taxi is still likely more convenient.

P.S. There were at one time, free bus services within the Heathrow Airport limits, which included many hotels, but this bit the dust due to Covid and, as far as I can see, has not been reinstated.

P.P.S. Don’t forget that, like London city buses, you can’t pay with cash and it’s either Oyster, or more likely, contactless credit card.

Thanks, Ian. Found Hoppa, but it took 45 min. Since room is cheap, think I'll get taxi in a.m.

This PI is a little tired, but my room is large & they have a bar, which I need today. It is much better than the one in London near Victoria for which I paid 3 x's as much & the elevator to my section was out of service (for which I received no alert ahead of time) so I had to drag my bag up a flight of stairs after taking other section elevator. Ugh!

Isn't there a bus that goes right by that hotel? Can't be more inconvenient than Hoppa and 1.65 or whatever it is now. As mentioned, it used to be free, but the powers that be decided that the environment and excessive traffic, no longer counted. Only money counted now.

I think you are maybe conflating two things. The Hoppa buses have always charged (plenty) but the service buses running from within the airport and stopping at or near hotels, were subsidised by the airport so thus were free to travellers, I.e. hotel-goers, within the airport perimeter. Then came Covid and the airport was losing vast amounts of cash hand over fist, so the free bus travel was discontinued. It is said that this is only a temporary withdrawal, but it probably won’t be the biggest surprise you’ve had today to discover that no date, as of yet, has been set for the reintroduction of the free fare service.

Before counting on a bus to get you to the terminal, I suggest digging for a schedule. When we spent a night at Gatwick last month, we were within walking distance of the North Terminal (though the path was unmarked and confusing at night), but we had a back-up plan of using the bus the next morning if the weather turned out to be rainy. When we asked about the bus schedule on arrival at our hotel, we were handed a piece of paper showing buses 40 minutes apart at the time we'd be heading to the airport, which wasn't at the crack of dawn. That was too infrequent for us. You'd be dead if the bus you counted on didn't show up.

I have no idea what the schedule for the Heathrow buses is like.

The TFL trip planner or Citymapper app will provide options and estimated schedules. Citymapper app will also provide estimated taxi/Uber fares. Never used that option so not sure how accurate the taxi fare estimates are.

ian: I haven't conflated anything, if you would read what I said again. The bus goes right by the PI on Bath Road. The bus is not more inconvenient than the Hoppa. The bus costs 1.65 or whatever. It is no longer free.

To address a couple things. I did use citimapper app to ID all my options. The Hoppa bus worked fine for 6gbp to get to hotel, just took so long as it is at end of route. Since taxi turned out to b only 14 gbp more I opted for that this morning
