Has anyone stayed at either of these before? I'm having a hard time choosing which one. We are first timers to London.
I haven’t stayed in either, but I prefer the Nottingham Place location over the very busy, noisy Leicester Square. Nottingham Place is near to Marylebone High Street, which is a great location with plenty of independent cafes and restaurants and has good transport links.
We stayed in the Leicester Square location in 2013 and our room was incredibly quiet. it was quite busy around the hotel though but you wouldn't know it inside your room.
Neither of these two, but stayed at Premier Inn Waterloo and was extremely pleased.
Hotel noise aside (and it doesn't sound like it's an issue at that PI), some blocks around Leicester Square seemed very busy/crowded to me. I'm tempted to say it reminded me of Manhattan, but I haven't been to NYC in ages, so that is probably a dumb comparison to make. When I've walked through the area around Leicester Square, my reaction has been that I wouldn't want to stay there. However, someone on a short trip to the city who enjoys lively sidewalks well into the night might find the Leicester Square area just the thing, especially if several evening theatre performances were on the docket and there are plans to visit the National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery.
We stayed in the Premier Inn in Bath. It was very well run and maintained.
I have been to London several times & stayed at Premier Inn the 1st time we went. We stayed at Tower Bridge. The hotel was clean & quiet but it’s a long walk to the subway. The only area we stay in now is Paddington. If you are coming in from Heathrow, the Paddington Express will take you directly there. It’s a great area & has lots of places to eat & if you go into Paddington Station, there are more stores, drugstores, & food. There are some bed & breakfast style hotels in an area called Norfolk Square. The rooms are not fancy but you get breakfast included at most places & it’s worth it to be in that area. Literally 3-5 min walk to the train station. If you want something nicer, try the Hilton London Paddington which has a direct bridge from the train station or the Mercure London Paddington.
