Premier Inn Hampstead

From this week's Premier Inn e-mail-

The PI Hampstead has been fully refurbished and is now trialling a new concept- The Social-

Open 24 hours a day, The Social is a place for everyone to hang out in style. Whether you’re looking for a proper get-up-and-go breakfast, a leisurely lunch, pre-night out drinks or you need to grab a quiet spot for a meeting or work call, we’ve got you covered. Think free Wi-Fi, a team available 24/7 and a super central city location – there’s no better place to chill out! The Social has a menu to match whenever hunger strikes (not forgetting the little ones too) with food and drink on offer throughout the day. You’ll even be sorted late into the evening with our late night, light bites menu. There’s also a bar full of lip-smacking drinks with amazing offers like our £5 cocktails happy hour between 5-7pm. Checking in has been made even easier too. When you arrive for your hotel stay, simply scan your QR code at a check-in kiosk, pay using your payment card if you haven’t already pre-paid online and pick up your room key. No faff – it’s as simple as that.

This is also being trialled at Cardiff Queen Street, Cardiff North and Manchester City (Piccadilly)

Sounds like a good deal. hope they roll it out at other sites. I mentioned Hampstead in another post the other day. I'd rate it highly as somewhere for the discerning visitor to enjoy some neighbourhood London. It's not a "super central city location" by any stretch of the imagination, but there's a nice tube station (deepest on the network I believe), Overground and good bus services to central London. They do of course get bonus points for using the word "faff" in an official statement.

a super central city location

did somebody move Hampstead while I was looking the other way??

When you arrive for your hotel stay, simply scan your QR code at a check-in kiosk

and when you need a member of staff?

and career prospects for the invisible staff replaced by a screen?

which it's not (or wasn't last time I looked), several stops north of Euston on the Northern Line , but about half an hour from Westminster, or am I missing something?

The check in staff- for a long time now it's been self check in at most PI's I've been to, but there is always a member of staff floating round the check in area, ready and willing to help technologically clueless me.

Same at most Ibis hotels. Just a fact of life, like many grocery stores on self service, even Marks and Spencer- charge premium prices and provide no service.

If you just scan a QR code that is easier then typing in your reservation number. Even I might be able to manage that.

They're also quite liberal with the definition of Hampstead in the location. Upon looking at the map, it seems to be located in what I would call Belsize Park. That's fine though, still a good area, close to Hampstead Heath and just a short walk up the hill to Hampstead High Street.

I stayed in Penzance last week and the self check in machine was out of order. So the staff who were supposed to be working in the restaurant had to do the check ins, the result being both restaurant service and check in were slow.

I had the same issue as Greg at the Edinburgh PI, but there is always someone there. It just means they're not tied to the front desk.
