I am looking at prebuying WA tickets online. . . my question is do I have to wait in line, or can we just go straight up like we have with our London pass in the past?
Thank you!
When are you going? I was there in late September two years ago and walked right in; no line.
we leave monday, planning to go next wednesday
My guess is that you will be able to walk right in. I - like the other poster - was there one year in September and walked in. We were there last year in June right before it opened - more touristy - stood in line for about 15 minutes before we got in. Probably got busier later.
Important to remember that a sea of orange poppies surrounds the Tower at the moment honoring the dead of WW1.

EXTREMELY popular. So go early, enjoy this amazing remembrance, then get into the small line at the entrance to the Tower. Hit the Crown Jewels first as they are the most popular site in the Tower.
Can we use London Pass to bypass the line ? We are going to London on Nov 8, will the orange poppies exhibition open? how's the weather over there ?
The poppies at the Tower of London are outside in the moat. I believe you can visit at anytime. The display is supposed to be complete by Nov. 11, and will be dismantled some time after that . I believe the poppies have been sold for about $40 each, with funds going to veterans organizations.
I visited Westminster Abbey last year. There were two lines. One for cash and one for credit cards. The cash line was shorter and moved faster.
Not sure how my post on the Tower of London sea of poppies wound up here but I'll plead temporary insanity and yes they are red, not orange. Dang, I must of been have a really bad day!!!
I had decided before my travel to wait until I was there to decide when to do things. The weather was very damp and rainy early May 2013. I bought my WA ticket there online and my hotel printed it out for me. At WA I held my ticket openly in my hand, walked past the cash line people and then showed the ticket to the attendant. Visibly displaying you have a ticket/pass avoids confrontations.
It gets extremely crowded. Go for the opening hour. I found the audio guide helpful, and had the RS page with me, too. I also took the time to ask the Vergers questions as I walked around. They have very nice inexpensive pub grub downstairs. The weather became worse after I was inside and the lines became tremendously long. They do admit a certain number at a time which is good but also makes the two lines longer. You are free to walk about the inner courtyards and passageways which I did after lunch.
