Pre- Best of England tour-two extra days

We are trying to decide whether or not to spend two extra days before the BOE tour in Bath (where the tour starts), or in Bristol.
We are considering staying the 2 extra nights in the Brooks Guest House in Bath or the Brooks Guest House in Bristol, so any ideas about the cities or hotels? I know that the distance between the two is an easy, short train ride, but would it be more fun and interesting to stay in Bristol?
Also, any advice about ease of walking to the sights in either of the two places, or using local public transport, is appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Just call a cab. Its only 15 to 80 Euros. That's what Rick does.

Hi, I was on the RS Villages of Southern England tour in 2016 that ended with one night in Bath at the Brooks Guest House. Maybe for a couple it would be different, but I found my single room there to be cramped and very ordinary, and I didn't think the location was as convenient as other hotels. I spent an extra 2 days after the tour at the Windsor Townhouse on Great Pulteney https://www.bathwindsorguesthouse.com/. My room was much nicer, the price and location were better, etc. I haven't been to Bristol so I can't comment on that. In Bath, I went to sites that were not on our tour, such as the Roman Baths, the Fashion Museum, the Victoria Art Museum, and the Jane Austen Centre. Most who post here do not recommend the Jane Austen Centre, but I enjoyed it. I also enjoyed shopping, something you never have time for on the RS tours. There are some great interior design stores there, and some good restaurants. I think I ate at the Cote Brasserie and the Herd Steak Restaurant.
