Potential Train Strikes and Bletchley Park

Hi Everyone,

I'm toying with the idea of Bletchley Park in early October. I'm hesitant to purchase a ticket in case there is a train strike. Does anyone know if they have refunded in such situations?

I can only go on one day and have no flexibility. Can you get a same day train ticket for the same reason?

Yes, you will get a refund if no service is provided.

14 days notice of any strikes will be provided here and on the LNWR website.

There are advance tickets at £6.50 per person each way, which will be available within the 14 day period- thus roughly halving your fare. They don't need to be booked many weeks ahead, despite whatever advice you may see to the contrary.

But full price fares can be purchased on the day at Euston- £23.40 off peak day return

Two unions are striking- the RMT (basically the guards) and ASLEF (basically the drivers).

On a RMT strike day a regular half hourly service is provided until a last return train at 1910 (7.10pm).

We should have a timetable for an ASLEF strike day (which will be more restricted) this time next week.

Are you thinking of buying a ticket now for Bletchley Park? I would be astonished if they refunded your ticket because of a train strike which has nothing to do with them.

There is zero need to book ahead for Bletchley Park anyway, their website is clear on that. Just turn up and buy on the spot.

Booking ahead is just there as a convenience, not a need.

People are generally getting too hung up on advance booking.

It wouldn't even cross my mind to advance book for such a place. I wouldn't even pre book for Westminster Abbey or any Church or Cathedral. WA is meant to be a functioning religious place, not some quota controlled museum.
