Postscript from trip, umbrella

I had asked in an earlier post if it was necessary to always carry an umbrella. First two days in london, there was chance of showers so we wore jackets with hoods. Never rained. Third day, it was supposed to be sunny and fairly warm, no showers. We didn't want to carry jackets, so didn't wear jackets or carry umbrellas that day. Got caught in showers twice that day. Wore jackets everyday afterward - never rained again.

I'm sure all the people who weren't carrying umbrellas or wearing rain jackets appreciate you for wearing yours. No doubt that's what kept the rain away!

I always bring an umbrella with me when I travel because that's the best way to make sure it won't rain.

I didn't see very many people carrying umbrellas, but when it rained there seemed to be a large number magically appear from nowhere.

I always take my travel umbrella to London knowing if I don't I'll need it.

In countless trips have used it twice but it so small and light it always goes with...

Another ironic travel experience! Hope the showers didn't dampen your trip too much.

It used to be that way, too, with travel hair dryers. Bring one, and you never needed it, but don't bring a dryer and your hotel or B&B wouldn't have one available. Nowadays it seems every place we stay has one with the room.

Same with swimsuits - bring one and the opportunity to swim wouldn't happen. Don't bring one and you need to go out and buy one on the trip.

Here's wishing you sunny days ahead (even though today's the first day of fall in the northern hemisphere)!

I was in London last week for 5 days and carried a small umbrella with me everyday. We had gorgeous weather, sunny with blue skies! Only rained one time in the afternoon last Wednesday for 10 minutes. Voila! Pulled out my umbrella and kept dry. I usually try to keep it in a pocket in my REI crossbody bag as you never know when it will come in handy, especially in the UK.

It's called "sods law" and applies a lot in England, especially to the weather.
