Post Theater Dinner In London ( Sondheim)

My friends and I are traveling to London next week and are seeing Les Mis at the Sondheim. We are looking for nicer but not super upscale spot to venture to after the show. Any recommendations? Or places to avoid?

Are you talking about late night dining or dining after a matinee performance? Also is this a weekday or weekend performance. Les Mis runs about 3 hours so late night dining would entail a reservation after 10:30pm.

Unfortunately, there are not many late night dining options in London. A few places that I can think of that take a 10:30 reservation are Bocca di Lupo (Italian), The Wolseley, J Sheekey (seafood), The Ivy, and Brasserie Zedel. I’ve eaten at the last 3 and the food was fine but the service at Brasserie Zedel was terrible when I was last there in 2022. Dishoom at either the Carnaby or Covent Garden location is also an option on Friday or Saturday when they are open until midnight; however, they don’t take reservations (except for large groups) and there is usually a long queue. I like Dishoom a lot, but generally only go at lunch time to avoid the queue. I dined late on a weeknight at the Dishoom Carnaby and they were vacuuming the dining room around me while I was finishing my meal.

I’d suggest looking at the menus online to see what appeals to you.

We did pre theater dining at The Ivy before seeing Les Mis. Loved the dinner and the performance! You could see what is available for post theater.
Enjoy!

That theatre is in Chinatown so you have lots of great Chinese (and other Asian cuisine) options- my favourite of the slightly nicer ones is Barshu (Szechuan), which is just a few blocks from that theatre.
